Compassion Fatigue : A System Approach
Compassion fatigue shows up when caring becomes costly, and this course helps you see it clearly and address it at its roots. You’ll learn what sets it apart from burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and moral injury while tracing causes across individuals, teams, organizations, and the larger system. Designed for leaders, supervisors, and front-line professionals in healthcare, social services, education, and public safety, it takes a practical, system-level lens.
We’ll translate research into action: assessments to spot risk, workload and policy audits, trauma-informed supervision, peer support and debriefing practices, scheduling and staffing fixes, and simple metrics and dashboards to monitor progress. Through case studies and templates, you’ll build a change plan, run small tests of change (PDSA), and make the ROI case for leadership. Expect tools you can use next week—early-warning indicators, briefing scripts, and feedback loops—that reduce errors and turnover while boosting psychological safety, client outcomes, and staff wellbeing. The result is a sustainable practice culture where care for people is built into the system, not left to personal resilience alone.

I’m Teri Dart, MSN-Ed, RN, CEN—a nurse educator, clinical leader, and wellness advocate with more than 25 years in nursing and continuing education. I’ve seen the real cost of compassion fatigue in fast-paced clinical settings, and I’m passionate about fixing the systems that drive it, not just asking caregivers to “be more resilient.” My work focuses on aligning workflows, communication, and leadership practices so compassion is sustainable.
As the founder of CEU Escape, I design evidence-based learning that blends reflection, mindfulness, and practical tools you can use right away. In Compassion Fatigue: A System Approach, I share scalable strategies at the individual, team, and organizational levels—helping you reduce stress, strengthen connection, and reclaim purpose without burning out.
